Monks playing Tibetan horns (dungchens) on the Thikse Gompa roof in Ladakh. Typically, a few traditional instruments are played before each ceremony in the monastery temples to announce the ceremony and call the participant.

Thikse Gompa is a large monastery in Central Ladakh. It belongs to the Gelug-pa order of the Tibetan Buddhism and was built in the 15th century by one of Tsongkhapa’s disciples. It is located in the Indus Valley, about 20km east of Leh. Ladakh, India.
