Elephant’s eye. Asiatic elephants working at Chitwan NP, Nepal

Description

Watching and photographing eyes of domesticated elephants working on elephant safaris in the Chitwan National Park at Sauraha, I had the impression they looked very sad. The use of captive elephants for tourist rides is a complex issue, not to be judged easily. It would be probably best if all of them could live in the wild, but that is not possible and tourism seems to be often the only way to get money to keep them and to improve their living conditions. Asiatic elephants, Sauraha, Nepal.
