Pumori in black & white. A distant view.

Description

Pumori (7161m) seen from a place on a moraine above the Ama Dablam Base Camp. Everest Region of Nepal, Sagarmatha National Park. November 2016. Black & white, square crop.

To me, it is one of the most beautiful mountains in the area. It can easily rival famous Ama Dablam and other peaks. Its name was given by George Mallory in 1921 and it means “Daughter Peak” in the Tibetan language. I took this photo from a high point on a moraine which stretches above the Ama Dablam Base Camp. It is a fantastic view-point with a brilliant distant panorama of high peaks. I was lucky to have clear weather on that afternoon.
