The golden spire of the Boudha Stupa in Kathmandu

Description

A part of the dome and the spire of Boudhanath, the Boudha Stupa in Kathmandu. A late afternoon view photographed on a clear, spring day in the warm light of the setting sun. The tower is gold-plated and the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha, or wisdom eyes, are painted on each of its four sides facing the cardinal directions. The stupa is decorated with Buddhist prayer flags, which are strung from the top of the spire. Boudhanath is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Kathmandu Valley and one of the main tourist attractions in Nepal's capital. Photographed after the major reconstruction that was essential following the 2015 Nepal earthquake (Gorkha earthquake) which severely damaged the monument.
