Indus River seen from a bridge in Central Ladakh

Description

Mid-summer view of the Indus River from the Buddhist prayer flags decorated bridge in Central Ladakh. As the river is fed by glaciers and snow, its waters are usually high in summer when melting is intense, as seen here. Late in autumn the water level drops, the current becomes less powerful as it slows down, and it carries lower amount of sediment. The grey or brown and muddy summer water becomes clear then, and gets the beautiful teal blue or green-blue colour. Union Territory o Ladakh, India.
